I was browsing through the pages of CNN.com and came to the stunning statistics of newborn abuse and neglect cases. I was floored. I would have guessed that these numbers would have been much higher. I mean, neglect is defined by the Feds and the following: Neglect is, “a failure to meet a child’s basic needs including housing, clothing, feeding and access to medical care.” This also included abandonment and newborn drug addiction.

This really surprises me as to why the number are still only 1 in 50. Come on people, we can do much better than this. Let’s push these numbers through the roof. Let us all band together and start dropping off more infants on the door steps of monasteries. How hard is it to put a little heroin in a bottle? Now, don’t look at me like that, I know that marijuana is the “gateway drug” and it should be used first but I just think it would be too hard to get an infant to smoke a joint. So lets all band together now, and work on getting these odds better. I know that 1 in 15 is reachable if we all pitch in, but it takes you to help.

Sorry, I missed April Fools day and I still wanted to pitch in.

I have been reading through news sites over the past week and I am just amazed by the amount of random killings, planned killings and “I’ll show you,” killings that have been going on.

Some guy flipped out last night and started gunning people down in a Wendy’s. The slaughterer of the family in Memphis and all of the various school shootings. I just want know when murder became the new black?

I would like to blame the media for glamorizing all of this stuff, but the new series of murders seem to be different than attention. These are people who are gunning down men and children then getting away as opposed to killing themselves. It seems that at least once a week you hear about this and you just start tuning it out like a tired TV drama.

What causes this type of behavior in people? Media, parenting, or perhaps God, if you believe in that type of thing, or perhaps we are just scraping the bottom of the genetic gene pool and breeding legions of violently unstable people. Who knows.

If this is the new black, I think I will start wearing mauve.

This is a very serious matter indeed. Not only could it be harmful for human consumption but the fish themselves could be in danger.

We need to map out where these hooligan fish were caught, because I am one American that will not stand for drug trafficking from any type of fish. We need to crack down on the areas where the pill popping fish were caught. I would be more than happy to spend my tax dollar getting some police in those areas to make sure there are no more fish trying to smuggle their drugs through our vendors.

I hope that you are as outraged as I am.

Google is doing something very interesting. It appears that the giant is extending its services to the homeless. It will be furnishing a permanent phone number to any of the homeless in the San Francisco area that would like one. They seem to want everyone to have a home-base of sorts where they can be contacted, which is a great thing. I watched a documentary on the homeless before and one of the greatest things to overcome is no point of contact. This is especially important for those trying to get jobs, if you have no contact info it makes it very difficult to get a job. So this will help give those, who wish to help themselves, a foot up. I give Google props for doing their part to help the community and now they have a whole new pool of minions to hire from.

It seems that in the infinite wisdom of the American government, water boarding is not torture!

This is great news! Not only that but unless that pain is equivalent to organ failure or death, then nothing is torture. The great thing about this measurement is, that the people who experience organ failure usually die and those that die just are not saying if it hurts or not. So barring killing someone your punishments are fair game everyone.

I can’t wait to hear about the first principal of a high school that water boards a student to find out why he cut class. “I wasn’t torturing little Billy. It was tough love. We just needed the information of were he was so we know that he wasn’t in any danger. Any loving parent would use this technique. Our government would not use this technique if it was amoral or wrong in any way,” is what he would say.

Why am I still here writing this when I could be out not-torturing coworkers? So long for now, and I will try to brainstorm on some technique that don’t felt like organ failure or death!

I found an interesting article that popped up about concealed carry guns on campuses in the USA and low and behold it was from my old college town, Salt Lake City, Utah.Utah is the only state in the nation to allow the possession of a concealed firearm, on one’s person, on all campuses across the state. I personally don’t think it is a bad thing, however, making this public is a subject that can cause problems. Don’t get me wrong here, not just any Joe can walk around campus with a pistol that they buy. You must have a state conceal and carry permit for the gun. It requires lengthy background checks and it requires classes as well. Also, just having the concealed carry card can yield benefits with police as well. If pulled over, immediately let the office know that you have the concealed carry card and display it with your license, let him know if it is in the car and then abide by what they ask you to do. It appears for traffic violations like speeding etc, if you display the card they have to do an extra set of paper work, so most people who display the card usually get warnings. This is just coming from experience with a close friend I have in Utah that get pulled over a few times a year and has only gotten warnings ever since he started carrying his weapon. Will this change anything on the campuses? Probably not. Will it causes a political rally of some sorts? Probably. In this day and age I can see the arguments from both sides of the equation, and coming from the country I tend to lean to the side of keeping with the 2nd Amendment. Responsible people can have accidents with guns, but people who skirt the system to get guns are the ones you have to really worry about.

We haven’t made our minds up,” Bush said Wednesday. “I want to dispel the notion that all of a sudden America is, you know, bringing all kinds of military to Africa. It’s just simply not true.” –George W. Bush

I just don’t understand why congress would let this guy go out and speak to people unscripted. Granted he does probably have trouble reading but still, it would definitely be worth the investment in the long run. I just don’t understand how we let him get away with speaking like I do normally. Being that I am from the country and bad english is pretty much the norm there, I am used to his speak. Be that as it may, I would think that if I ever had the gumption to strive for the presidency of a world power I would probably look into some courses in speech, grammar and diction. I am not stating that I could speak any better than he does but I just wish that you had a representative of the country that doesn’t sound like a buffoon all of the time. Now to end with a quote from this this master of eloquence.

“The purpose of this is not to add military bases. I know there’s rumors in Ghana — ‘all Bush is coming to do is try to convince you to put a big military base here.’ That’s baloney. Or as we say in Texas, that’s bull.”

I mean this story had all the makings of a classic news story.
I don’t know about you but I think in order to make this jumping story news worthy, it needed a lot more smashed GMA host found on sidewalk attached to it.

Then they go into practices of slaughterhouses and how they are cruel to downed cattle, meaning cows that will not get up, not cattle with downs syndrome. Examples of how the workers at these slaughtering plants are cruel to the cattle that will not get up to go be killed, go figure. Then they reinforce, why you and your kids have all ready eaten the possibly tainted meat and that there is nothing that you can do now except worry and try to manifest the symptoms that you probably do not have to being with.

I can understand the need to get the information about this out there, but I feel the way this has been done is the way our government has been running the country for the last 8 years. As to the whole point, I think there is a better way than fear.
